The excitement has been palpable over TripAdvisor’s new TripConnect service, but what exactly is TripConnect and how does it work?
Up until now the ability to appear in TripAdvisor’s hotel pricing and availability search was exclusively reserved for Online Travel Agencies (OTA’s) and large hotel chains. Now for the first time, independent hotels, motels, inns and bed and breakfasts worldwide can drive traffic from TripAdvisor to their Online Booking Engine. It works pretty much the same way as Google AdWords, an auction service to buy advertisements in Google search results. Properties use TripConnect placing bids to appear in TripAdvisor’s Hotel Price Comparison Search. The more money you spend in TripConnect Auctions the higher your property listing will appear in the search. The top three bidders receive prime placement for their links and also include an “Official Site” icon, so users know this price is being offered by the property itself. The rest of the bidders will appear in text links below the three main ads. When users click your link in those results, they will be taken directly to your Online Booking Engine to complete the transaction. It’s a cost-per-click (CPC) model so you’ll only be charged if a traveler clicks on your link.
To use TripConnect, you’ll need to:
- Have a TripAdvisor Business Listings. This service allows property owners to post direct contact details, such as phone number and e-mail address to their TripAdvisor listing in addition to adding their own room rates and availability to their listing as it appears in TripAdvisor search results.
- You'll also need to have a TripConnect Certified Internet Booking Engine. The Frontdesk Anywhere Online Booking Engine which is included with your Frontdesk Anywhere subscription is one of those certified.
TripConnect is important. It’s a place where travelers can quickly research and compare pricing and availability. TripAdvisor is more and more becoming the place where travelers go to make their booking decisions. If you want to drive more direct bookings to your property, it’s imperative you appear in these results. Frontdesk Anywhere’s integration with TripConnect allows for rates and inventory to be easily distributed on TripAdvisor ensuring you get maximum direct bookings, commission free with our Online Booking Engine.
